With so many gamers still expecting a release date for The Elder Scrolls VI, it is no surprise that our nostalgic minds drive us to keep playing older titles just to keep the flame alive. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of those games that are worth revisiting at least once a year. We can’t help but start as a new character and ask ourselves, what if we wield different weapons this time around?
One-handed weapons in Skyrim are plentiful. You have your choice of swords, daggers, maces, and war axes. But which one is the best for a one-handed playstyle?
The answer may surprise you.
The best one-handed weapon in Skyrim is actually the war axe.
The war axe has a few things going for it that other one-handed weapons don’t. For starters, its base damage is higher than all other one-handed weapons except for the greatsword. And while its attack speed is slower than the dagger, its reach is much longer. This makes it a great choice for players who want to deal a lot of damage quickly, but don’t want to be left vulnerable if their opponent gets too close.
Another reason the war axe is the best one-handed weapon in Skyrim is because of its versatile moveset. The war axe can be used for both power attacks and sweeping strikes, making it a great choice for both close quarters and ranged combat. And with the right perks, the war axe can even be used to disarm opponents or stagger them with each hit.
But hey, what about the infamous Daedric sword?
Oh yes, the infamous Daedric weapon set is one of the most coveted damage-dealing sets in the game, and it is absolutely overpowered when you only take into account base damage. Geez, this weapon can carry you through the whole game if you want. However, it is not the most useful tool in combat, and other enchanted swords easily surpass the Daedric sword in terms of stats and enhancements.
For me, the best one-handed weapon is the Dawnguard RunAxe. This unique war axe can be found in Fort Dawnguard, and it’s a great choice for players who want a powerful one-handed weapon with a unique look. The axe has a base damage of 11 (not too impressive) but deals 10+x sun damage to undead creatures, where X is the total number of walkers felled with your axe since the last sunrise. Since most caves and dungeons are crawling with Draugr, skeletons, vampires, and other revenants. Pair this insane damage potential to the advantages listed above, and you got yourself a killing machine ready to take you to the end game.
While I find that the console versions of Elder Scrolls are decent, these titles are better experienced on gaming PC desktops. Moreover, it is said that the next iteration will be a Microsoft exclusive and will be absolutely gorgeous. If you need to gear up for the upcoming release of The Elder Scrolls VI, or want to experience other open world titles in all of their graphic glory, it’s worth it to get a completely customized gaming PC desktop from CLX gaming today.
Do Gaming PC Desktops Really Make a Difference?
The main advantage gaming PC desktops have over consoles is that they double up as computers when you’re not using them for gaming. However, this is not the only advantage they bring to the table. Playing open world or first-person games using a keyboard/mouse combination feels a lot more immersive than employing a controller. It also allows for more accurate and faster in-game actions that could result critical when playing your titles in higher difficulty.
Also, it is now easier than ever to hit high FPS counts even with budget-oriented gaming PC desktops, giving you an edge in terms of performance and load times. Just visit CLX gaming and their techs will help you build the perfect gaming rig for you.
