Cowboys come in various styles, but most cowboys wear reliable cowboy boots.

Drawing cowboy boots is a great way to experience the cowboy lifestyle without ever learning to saddle a horse! This tutorial is for you if you want to know how to draw your cowboy boots.

How to Draw Cowboy Boots

Step 1

The boots we depict in this cowboy boot drawing guide have a classic design.

This means they will be quite tall and slim, a design that most cowboy boots will follow!

First, use some slightly wavy lines with circles at the top for the strap coming out from the inside of the boot.

Then you can draw the trunk opening. This will be flat and slightly angled. A sharp lip dip will also be at the front of the boot.

Make sure you draw another strap on the other edge of the circle! Finally, draw a slightly jagged line for the back edge of this boot so we can move on to step 2.

Step 2

We’ll be adding quite a bit to the design of your cowboy boots in this second step, so you should take it slow. First, use a few rougher lines to extend the front and back edges of the boot. Then three straps connect near the base of the boot.

Finally, for this step, we will draw the base of the boot. Another negligibly crooked line is used for the downward slope of the semblance of the boot towards the toe.

There will therefore be a rather thick sole at the bottom.

Please do your best to recreate our example image as accurately as possible while drawing, and then it’s time for step 3!

Step 3

Frequently, cowboy boots are personalized with some detail, and these details can appear in many different styles.

In this step of our cowboy boot drawing guide, we will add a cool design that we will draw with lots of sharp curved lines to create a wavy look.

You can also opt for this design, but add some unique details if you prefer!

Step 4

It’s time to count a second boot to your cowboy boot picture! All you have to do is replicate what you did the first moment you created it.

You can add the full half of the second boot, which contains the trim, straps, and components. You can add the remainder in the next step, so here we go!

Step 5

In this step of our cowboy boot drawing guide, you’ll complete the final outlines and elements before moving on to the final step.

Draw Cowboy Boots

This usually involves pulling the toe of the shoe to the right. You can start drawing another band with slightly curved lines.

Next, draw the top and front of the boot and add a base. This makes it very similar in appearance to the boot on the left, allowing you to mimic what you did there!

Once this startup process is complete, you can get on with your details and additions. Cowboy boots often have intricate detailing, so you can add custom touches to suit your taste.

You could also draw a cool background, which is a perfect way to complement the surroundings of these boots.

Step 6

Cowboy boots can be made from many materials, but leather is the most common.

In this final step of this cowboy boot design, we’re going to colorize the image to show further what they might be made of.

Our reference image used lighter shades of gray and brown for the boots to give them a neat leather look.

This is a step that gives you a lot of freedom in coloring.

You can use darker shades of brown for an even heavier leather look or lighter colors that you love for a more colorful look.

Coloring can also help you achieve your desired look by changing your artistic media.

Acrylic paints or colored markers are great for more intense colors, while watercolors and colored pencils are perfect for more muted tones.
