Go east and visit Indiana Dunes National Park, in which the lake may look identical but the scenery is quite different from what we see in the city. The dunes of the park’s name add incredible elevation along the coastline. (See whether you’re able to take on taking on the 3 Dunes Hiking Challenge, which features the highest mountains.) Are you looking to cross the ocean and return in the same time? Enjoy a trip in the Saugatuck Chain Ferry, which is able to glide riders across the waves thanks to an innovative chain-and-pulley system, the only one of these in America.

5. Delavan Lake In Delavan, Wi

We’ve already written about the charms of Delavan which is a charming little town located in Wisconsin that has a surprising circus past, but we’d be foolish not to mention the lake that bears the identical name. Enjoy a day of sunbathing as well as swimming on Lake Lawn Beach (or see whether you can get access into one of the exclusive beaches along the shoreline). If you’re there visit the lakefront Johnson House and Fred Jones House since we all know that you are able to go home from Chicago whenever you want however, you cannot be able to leave Frank Lloyd Wright structures behind.
